When I heard the team speaking to each other, I thought it sounded familiar. They are all from Latvia, and I just returned from neighboring Estonia on Sunday night. This is a custom drone that they were testing last night as it tracked the bicyclist’s wristband at full downhill speed. It has a gimbaled GoPro camera that gives a steady-cam effect; as the drone tilts to follow him, or adjusts to buffets of wind, the gimbal compensates to stay locked on the target. Here is the video from the drone.
Do this little doggie drone loves to play “follow me”, and I think they should add the “roll over” feature from the Parrot AR drones. More photos below, and airdog.com
3D-Printed mockup of the foldable design, with gimbal on top and two purple propeller arms on each side:
Each propeller blade is on a swivel so it tucks away, but spins into place with centrifugal force. It also reduces the mass of a incidental collision with the propeller in half.
