Cool!!! Look like "Barbe à Papa", how does it taste O=)
Steve, I see that you use more and more the
Canon PowerShot S90, rather than the G9.
Any other reason outside of the side ?
As much happy with the quality ?
i love gregarious insects… reminds me of one of yer ladybug shots from way back …
🙂
and like Jeff: i’m thinking of the the s90 or the 4000is …. what’s yer take on the s90? (besides keeping it more easily in the front pocket without getting those odd looks from people at the mall….) 😛
Leino/Photon – yes, I like the S90 image quality so much more than the G9 (the f/2 wide angle optics was something that had drawn me to Panasonic/Lumix in the past.) And the size and weight is so much more convenient for the pocket. It has less telephoto range, but I rarely use that.
One major drawback of the S90 though, is the user interface. Canon is normally exemplary here, but they totally botched it with this camera. While the twist ring in front is OK, the dial in back is easily turned, and the user’s thumb glances across it all the time. In Program mode, that means some feature (like ISO or exposure bias) is being changed all the time. I’d say about 20% of my shots have settings I did not intend because of this! My buddy Victor returned his S90 for this reason. Hopefully a firmware patch will come out to allow that ring to be disabled (you can assign different functions to it, but null is not an option).
