Volcano heated to a zesty 192 – 248°F

Rincon de La Vieja, Costa Rica

P.S. Similar signs adorned every gaseous vent, but alas, nobody seems to have error checked the temperature ranges. If the Fahrenheit scale is correct, the Celsius scale should read 89 – 120°C. Or maybe it’s just unbearably hot for the gringos…. Or maybe they need a sterner warning than the metric folk to stay the heck out =)

  1. Next time you’re out on Playa you should head out to the hot springs, they’ve got good signs too.

  2. but those are OK to bathe in, right?

  3. the informational sign at badwater basin in death valley actually has two different °C conversions for the same record high temp… on the same board. that’s always cracked me up.

  4. In Costa Rica, safe to assume the °C figure is the correct one
