It captures a pretty good image with the front lens removed. I put the image stabilization module lens back on the imager, and was surprised to see her looking back at me….

She was singing Daisy, daisy…

Reminds me of disassembling an Elph camera for a school project once. They put the terminals of the flash capacitor RIGHT where you want to put your fingers to pick it up. Got me several times. 😛

I took a digital Elph apart once and the thing refused to even power up with the lens assembly removed. Some nonsense about failing self-test.

AMagill: Panasonic was more thoughtful about the high voltage leads to the cap… But I held it with some trepidation…

I came to this photo via Wikipedia and seems to be the only resource on the Web where you can see what’s inside a compact Lumix. It helped me actually in fixing my Lumix FX50, where the lense refused to go in after power down. So thanks for publishing this!
