Puzzle Series: What is this, or what do you want it to be?
That ball that descends from the Empire State Building on New Year’s Eve has really gone high tech with all the LEDs ths year …
Something involving fiber optics? Maybe the ends that plug into the switch? Great photo, by the way.
It also looks like a hanging lighting system, I second S’mart’s guess. Modern art museum? Or a swanky hotel in Vegas?
It’s a laser fusion reactor chamber. The lasers all focus on a central point inside a sphere filled with gas. The sphere is magnetically sealed against leakage.
Bingo S’mart, a new winner. Oddwick is corrrect too.
This is looking straight up into a 4-story chandelier. Each glass blob is at the bottom of a long fiber to the roof above. You can see horizontal balcony layers in the bottom half of the photo. It looks like a sphere, but each of the dots lie along a flat plane, and the lines are parallel to each other. (It does look like a hyperspace jump, or a rush of fibers into the blank construct program of the Matrix)
This is overhead in the lobby of the Shenzhen city government building.
