  1. Dr. Robb’s strange love, climbing on the hydrogen bomb:I was amazed to see how small nuclear bombs were in 1953. They fit in the tip of a Howitzer shell. This 15-kiloton Grable artillery-fired-atomic-projectile was test fired just once at the Nevada test site. The W48 nuclear artillery shell could be fired from any standard 155mm Howitzer. America’s smallest nuke. Just 120 pounds, and most of that is the howitzer shell and gunpowder. A total of 1,060 were manufactured from 1963-1992.
