Between the water and the very hard rock, the Vegas Loop project was a great proof point all around, including on time delivery and >10x cost savings savings over the alternatives. Next stop: connecting to nearby hotels and then the Vegas Loop (as seen on the map, below).
Next up: with today’s vote at the SBCTA, the Ontario Airport Loop in the LA area (see map). They came in >10x cheaper and 2.5x faster to build than the light rail alternative. “For now, the proposal involves using electric vehicles with rubber tires traveling up to 127 mph from point to point” — News
I have personally experienced 116 MPH in the tunnel, and with autopilot, it should be more safe than humans.
