This is from the parachute system cover panel from the recent DM-2 mission that brought Bob & Doug to the ISS and safely back for a splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico.
On the back of the flown Delta Panel (that has the SpaceX logo on it), there are three of these powerful solid titanium spring assemblies that jettisoned the hatch.
From a SpaceX engineer: “One of my favorite things (aesthetically) about the delta panel pushers is how the concentric spring coils are wound in opposite directions of each other – which creates a cool appearance and is done for good reason”
The SpaceX DM-2 flown hatch is on the floor. I plan to display it to the right of the RL-10 engine behind us.
Part numbers
And the ones still attached to the panel are -2 and -3
