it cut the light in my office as we were filming an interview with the author of The Martian. The sunspot cluster is the biggest active region of solar cycle 24 and the largest Earth-facing sunspot since 1990. It is 80,000 miles across!

  3. Thanks! I put the solar glasses over the lens and found it very tricky to get a good shot (since I did not have manual focus). I wish I had a better zoom… like these guys… =) Mid-level Solar Flare
