  1. Here is how I used the DSLR to take three frames from an overhead-tripod perspective, using the strap under tension as an anchor point:DSC01496and this what I got from a -2/0/+2EV HDR merge of three photos: IMG_3981_2_3EnhancerI broke by DSLR moments later lending my wide angle lens to a posse from France. I stored their lens on my 5D-II to keep dust off the sensor, and their lens popped the fresnel lens off my "single lens reflex" (I was able to fix it later on). So, I only had my pocket camera, and I’m still facing the sun. So I used my polarizing sunglasses next to the lens for an ad-hoc polarizing filter, and it worked better at removing glare (but could not go to 16mm wide angle):DSC01501 Feeder Lake Powell: DSC01515And the surreal 2.25GW Navajo Generation Station, basically a coal-fired power plant located in the Navajo Nation but sending the power to LA and VegasDSC01516

  2. And an interesting comment from Tim Dick on Facebook about that power plant: "One of the 10 biggest polluters in the nation that helps contribute to Salt Lake City’s Beijing-like winter smog. EPA gave the Federally owned plant an exemption to keep polluting." http://www.npca.org/news/media-center/press-releases/EPA-Fails-t...

And from Twitter, who knew Richard Dawkins was a secret fan:

  3. Nice Dawkins shout out! Also, that sunglasses polarizer trick is a classic. What a gorgeous area.
