P.S. In Africa, I got a real sense of why the whole cats vs. dogs thing relates to cats jumping up into trees.

Funny, I discovered while in the Middle East that neither Muslims nor Jews like dogs. Muslims are crazy about cats because the Prophet had a favorite cat that he spoiled rotten.
