
Amalienburg’s Hall of Mirrors
This hunting lodge constructed in 1739 by François de Cuvilliés for the Holy Roman Emperor Charles VII and his wife, Maria Amalia of Austria. I am standing in the kennel room for the hunting dogs, equally ornate, but with cute little cubby holes built into the walls. The ceremony of finding the meat appears to be quite important to them… =)
With echoes of bling reverberating in each mirror, Amalienburg is a masterpiece from the climax of European rococo.
