This is the view looking rearward from the flight seats.

The windows are covered with light blocks. The ones on top look upward. The two smaller ones below look out to the payload bay, and the joysticks are for the boom and Canadarm, eh.

Little blue velcro squares everywhere.

And a frequent-flier astronaut friend saw this and reminisced….

"My favorite place to eat dinner was sitting "upside down" on the
flight deck facing backwards. Usually we flew the Shuttle
upside down and backwards (to protect the front windows in case of a
debris strike). From that position you are facing the aft windows
with your feet down by the overhead windows.
Out the aft windows it looks in the direction of flight towards the
Earth’s horizon, and out the overhead windows looking "down" towards
your feet you see the Earth below. So the effect is like being in a
glass bottom boat drifting above the Earth with
    continents and oceans below you.
    It’s the best restaurant anywhere!
(even if the food is just so-so)"

  7. EveryScape has finished the stitching of my fisheye shots into a virtual tour. Before you start, remember to click the full screen button in the bottom right corner of the main image. Then you can click on the image and drag to look up down and all around. When you see an orange arrow, you can zoom to the neighboring room. OK here is the VR tour of Endeavour, starting with this Flight Deck.

And here’s a flickr post showing what the input images looked like for the flight deck and links to the other areas.

  8. Now THAT’s a control panel! I sincerely hope there’s a "restore default settings" switch. Speaking of which, I used this image for a blog post I wrote about default settings and reboots:
