Something subliminal about my boarding pass jumped out at me…

I understand I Robot, but this just begs me to reach out and touch someone.

So as I was boarding, I asked the Southwest pilot what their motto is. “LUV – The Love airline.” Then I showed him my boarding pass and confirmation code. He cracked up. “That’s a different kind of love!”

You don’t get that on Virgin.

And if that wasn’t good enough, the ad on the bottom of the boarding pass page was for Avis:
“We try harder!”

  1. Quick, someone cue up a Steely Dan song!

  2. which? Babylon Sisters, or Hey Nineteen?

Oh, As we were taxing out, the steward started on the microphone: "My name is Bingo". I laughed out. "It really is." And he holds up his badge. "My folks had 4 girls, and then Bingo! A boy. True story."

Then Bingo told us: “For those of you sitting near children or people who act like a child — ladies I’m talking to you — please assist them with their mask before adjusting your own.”

I prefer the approach on Estonian Air:

  3. lol… I’m always charmed when at the end of a long day the flight crew goes all amateur night at the comedy club. ‘-}

  4. Hilarious!

I flew Aeroflot once… Coming back from Moscow with 200+ passengers who obviously have never flown before there was lots of Vodka flowing. The minute the wheels touched down they ALL stood up. We were barreling down the runway at hundreds of miles an hour and everyone is standing in the aisle. Will never forget that.

  5. OK… after the amusing reading, I want to say that I love that in the boarding pass it shows your name as Stephen Jurvetson.

    Appppsolutely great! Love it.

  6. some marketing… sex sells, i guess. and hate vodka… some poison. i flew Aeroflot and did not notice anything unusual, nothing terribly exciting or different – quality was not that great though.
yes, Stephen sounds interesting. Uff, and Russian news lately are a bit worrisome. There are great people everywhere and they are minority in all countries given. Great that majority does not always rule, especially if this majority drinks some strong drinks or eat too much hamburgers with French fries and love watching TV all the time (zombie-land). I guess, I am off subject here, sorry.

  7. try the far East of Russia….

Here I am looking out the airplane door at the truck that is about to pull us over the grassy hill

  8. Sounds cool – I have never been there, my dad was – remember his trip to Sakhalin and around… when i was a kid. I was in Siberia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Georgia, Belarus, Ukraine, of course Moscow, Saint Petersburg and many other cities in Russia.
China is expending into Russian Far East faster than Russians from what i have heard.

  9. In days of olde (the glorious 70s), when PSA flew the SJC-LAX corridor, they had the greatest Hot Pink and Orange outfits for the hostesses… er, Flight Attendants… the golden age of air travel… when we didn’t have to show the holes in our socks. sigh…. sorry, strayed off-topic…. 😉

  13. You can catch it here (and transcript).

I am amazed at how many people have pinged me about this story from across the country. I guess people still listen to radio. =)

Actually, it’s a great sample selection bias – the people who heard it were caught in long commute time traffic !

  19. Unless the software is screening certain words out, there could have been quite a variety of such occurances by now, eh?

I guess better a confirmation code that says idildo than ihijack. That might not have blown over so easily.

Can we guess that by now the iDildo product name has been trademarked by someone? Is Apple going to claim it?

  20. could be a trademark battle with Love, airline or Courtney…

  21. Hilarious! I’ve been going through your images and comments and enjoying each and everyone. But this one….I just had to leave a comment.

I mean I’ve heard of flying the friendly skies, but perhaps this is a little too friendly!
