According to their verbal history, this economically detached village was formed in the year 700. The town elder has the nicest abode, but it comes with a price. Once he becomes “too old” he is killed off by the villagers. There is no other graceful handoff of power. If poison in the food does not work, he is buried alive.

The kids are quite cheerful despite all that. I was happy to find a connection with the old trick of a shared photograph of them, like this one. With many megapixels, I got a squeal of delight as I zoomed in on each of their faces.

  1. It certainly says a lot about what we really need to be happy. No, they don’t have what we would consider the ‘necessities’ of life, but by the adorable smiles on their faces, they are happy, at least at this age…may they keep that joy forever!

  2. those smiles are worth the kingdom, the little prince‘s

  3. I first saw them as kite runners, with plastic bags and bits of twine for kites
