He jumps down to protect his buffalo kill from the approaching female leopard. After a standoff, he jumps back into the tree and she looks up at him for a long time.

  2. I doubt it was a Bison kill 🙂 That’s an American animal and comparatively safe to be around. This kill is more likely Cape Buffalo, generaly accepted as the most dangerous of the big five.

    Be careful around Buffalo, they have good eyesight, hearing and sense of smell and are intelligent. (Other "big" game tend to lack one or more of these assets) Above all they are chronically constipated, which makes them bad tempered mean buggers. …and the front of their skull has an extra layer of armor where the horns come together, making a frontal shot (in case of a charge) somewhat problematic.

  3. Good point. The 458 Magnum rifle might get one good shot. And I fixed the caption to buffalo (that was my mental swap. It was an adult cape buffalo, not something they could have felled, so the assumption is that they lucked out in finding a natural death).
