I have been unable to focus on anything else today… as I replay and relive the experience of the Falcon 9 inaugural launch.

So, with a thought of the next target, I took a photo in my office this afternoon…. No Photoshop – just two historical artifacts…
Seem a bit mysterious?

  1. Wow!

I’m going to have to find an excuse to see these babies in action one day!

  2. Mysterious indeed !!!! But mystery is cool =)
"historical artifacts"…. here we call it Toys for grown-up Geek ; )

    Great video too ; )

  3. Looking for vacation property on the edge of a nice sized crater. Let me know when it becomes available. Hopefully I’ll be out of beeper range!

  4. Yeah, I have to say it was pretty unreal sitting at my desk watching the live feed of the Falcon 9 launch.

  5. the spill is important, but it is not the only issue facing the world.
I will leave your comment here, but delete them from my other pages, where it is a distraction from other topics.

  6. "Happy shiny people holding hands…."

  7. Ah yes, well put. I have seen the disenfranchised get very grumpy over the years, so it is understandable.

Back to the topical thread…. I just got the mission patch for this flight, and it has a similar engine-centric perspective:

Falcon 9 Flight 1 Mission Patch

Hey, is that four-leaf clover on the left? =)

P.S. Just got a SpaceX announcement, with the comparison:
"For less than the cost of the Ares I mobile service tower, SpaceX has developed all the flight hardware for the Falcon 9 orbital rocket, Dragon spacecraft, as well as three launch sites."

and a link to a short HD video of the takeoff…

  8. The grumpy disenfranchised know a heck of alot about aerospace and flying airplanes with all due respect to your many fledgling ventures. I can heartily recommend getting basic flight training and a few pilot ratings. Has a way of making one humble and aware of the need to listen closely to someone who knows what they are talking about.
You might have your own ideas about flying any given aircraft but then being wrong has rapid negative reinforcement. Also your ideas of power and justice could stand some revision as far as being a brand name or a franchise that lasted over multiple generations. Like Boeing for example.

  9. Nice – the full video is up. Thanks.
