From flickr befriending, I have now met PhotonQ in Paris and at BIL. He sent me this wonderful and peculiar gift. For a sense of the simpatico, I decided that I had to see this comic book, and managed to order one over amazon.fr as a new user (with no English option, of course =) before I knew he had already sent me one.

It tells the graphic tale of an alternative history — a micrometeorite takes out Apollo 11, and a Russian cosmonaut becomes the global heroine.

This edition is special though. PhotonQ has also sketched an alternate future on the overleaf.

Particularly topical, as the big nine-engine SpaceX rocket has its first launch window Friday morning at Cape Canaveral for its inaugural test flight. (webcast will be here)

  1. re SpaceX;

Fast food comes to Cape Canaveral… it looks a bit Soviet in design…
    (large clusters)
I see it uses one of your old LM engines (sort of)..in multiples.
Guess they WERE a reliable design.
I also thought it was supposed to have a booster from the shuttle somewhere (? 2nd stage..)
Give us your comments on this thing…

  2. Something to treasure, I’m sure. Clément has a wonderful take on the world & is a good flickr friend. (& not a bad artist either!…;-)…)….& this is a good read.

  3. What a great gift! I hope you can enjoy the "bande dessinée" (also called BD) (tags added) in French. Time to get out the dictionaries. However, humour is often hard to translate. Have fun!

Note: in francophone Québec, la bande dessinée is called BDQ since it is specifically made in Québec and with local humour.

  4. Space X launch seems too good to miss! So are you going to bring us photos??
If you believe some theorist perhaps the alternative reality exists. I don’t think I could take enough mind altering substances to really get my head around that one.

  5. Haha, cool to see it from the other side of the Earth now =)
    Merci ; )

Just got back from work for the Falcon 9 launch…
Will see how it goes…. Any news on your side ?

How about posting a photo for flickrers to comments and share the launch like last times ?

  6. and now, I have obtained a couple components from the Russian lunar program, 50 years ago… moreA Pair of Soviet Failures
