This hypersaline lake covers 1,700 square miles but has a maximum depth of about 35 feet. It’s typically 3 to 5 times saltier than the ocean and fish free. The phytoplankton blooms in January followed by several species of diatoms.

  4. thanks y’all. Hesitate to mention that it’s a photo through a plane window at full zoom with a pocket camera… but it’s a flight I have taken often and I plan my seat accordingly. =)
