My favorite rocket shots have some reference point for a sense of scale, and the awe we felt enveloped in the throaty roar up into the sea of stars.

The experimental propellant seems to be getting better over the years…

  1. My god, it’s full of stars!

  2. Holy mother of fireworks

  3. Wonderful shot! Are you preparing the propellant and building the motor?

  4. Rapadma: It was an experimental motor home-brewed by someone else. It has a long burn, and so takes a bit longer to get to stable flight speeds (seen in the S-shaped wiggle off the pad).

For example, Jim Green’s formulation is especially sparky, like those childhood sparklers… I first met JIm and flew one of his motors at BALLS in 2006.

I never was cool with James Dean
But I be hanging tough with my man Jim Green
