The faint lines are friendship links, darkened if they have a common photo appearance. The auto-clustering algorithm also uses highlight colors for each clique (a clique has many in-group friendship links and few links to people outside the group). Looks like a big pile of pinkos to me.

Friends are also ranked using “betweeness centrality” to measure their importance in the social network; high rank goes to those who connect different cliques.

The green cloud shows common profile tags among sub-groups.

Good to see most of my friends smiling… =D

  2. I was just thinking how facebook must have reached some sort of critical mass, because I suddenly have tons of old friends coming out of the woodwork… finding me via facebook.
