Unveiling the MIT wearable technology project at TED, and projecting the future of the integrated projector.

The cell phone camera+projector around her neck allows for some cool demos:

• Projecting a social network tag cloud on the shirt of person you are talking to at a party… You can see, but they can’t: “dork” “bad date in 2004”

• projecting a working phone dial pad on your hand

• projecting a watch on your wrist when you want to see the time

and more

The concept video just went online.

  1. I tend to embrace technology, but I’m not so sure about this. Especially the "bad date" part. 😉

  2. This was the coolest tech-talk I saw at TED this year. And the live demo downstairs was great =)

(Talking about meta data…here is a "meta-zoom-out" for your data-picture, with you or Erik, taking this picture, from your point of view, down on the right =)

  3. And another view =)

@PhOtOnQuAnTiQuE – Wish I knew you were at the event!

  4. @Erik
Sorry for missing you of few minutes =)
I saw you from upstairs talking with Steve, the time to get downstairs to say hello to Steve, and you were already gone. Next year maybe ; )

Dorks will neutralize such semantically hostile electromagnetic radiation by developing adaptive optical countermeasure systems anyway

  6. when my husband thought through all this in the 90’s, he envisioned goggles (or glasses) that allowed for an augmented reality, using GPS and the web for projecting information in places, called it "Worldboard."

  7. @restlessthought: I’m also still waiting for Virtual Light-style glasses, but this looks like a step in that direction, even if not quite as discreet.

  8. I saw that this photo was under Creative Commons. Just wanted to let you know that I used it unaltered in a blog post as well as linked back to your professional profile and TED. Thanks so much for a great shot.
