My Estonia Piano arrived from Tallinn, and it is just gorgeous!
Hand-built in my homeland, it has a rich resonance from the Estonian hardwood that is immediately apparent.

I figured I might be biased, and generally unqualified to judge such things. But the piano teacher came over tonight to see it, and she has played many pianos in many countries. She said it was the most sensitive piano she had ever played, with a wide dynamic range, and a clear bell-like quality extending to 5 or 6 extra notes on the high end. I got the sense she really liked it.

Major kudos to Indrek Laul and the team in Tallinn. I first met Indrek at the USBF gala in D.C., and learned of his modernization of the Estonia Piano Factory. This custom build took a few months of anticipation…

  1. Gorgeous instrument – are you learning to play? Perhaps you can stick some recordings up here? Video even (macro-video on the cord vibration??)…

  2. What a wonderful gift to yourself and your family! Someone, big or small, is going to play beautiful music on this superb piano. It is a legacy from your parent’s Estonia’s to you and later to your children.

  3. Instant drool! Pray tell what model it is, so that I can know whether to be merely jealous, very jealous, or insanely jealous….

  4. I know nothing about pianos… but the craftsmanship is apparent. Beautiful instrument. Enjoy.
