These are a couple frame grabs from Wayne Sawka’s big two-stage composite rocket. It looks so peaceful… but he’s supersonic at this point passing 1315 MPH.

On the left, you see the RVs along the flight line, and on the right, now at a much higher altitude, you can see the N2500 booster stage falling away on its own parachute. The camera is on the upper stage, which ignites by flight computer.

On the right photo, you can also see the edge of the Black Rock Desert playa, transitioning to the mountains.

UNR engineering students, Trisha Wesner and Jon Buescher, built the video payload for the rocket.
