And the first lady at the USBF Gala with Estonian music, Latvian food, and Lithuanian glass flowers…. a delightful dinner during my Dad’s 70th birthday.

  1. Feliz Cumpleaños, Dad!!!! 😀

  2. You always keep good company!
It was certainly a heartwarming evening for your father. Spending a birthday with his son and people who remind him ever so indirectly of his childhood and his roots is a special way to celebrate 70 years! Once more

    Happy Birthday T!

    Congats for the award Steve!

  3. Blue, black, white. You have beaten the President. 😉

  4. I was trying to get the pic of Evelin last Sept in Berlin 🙁
All I got is that image…
    Evelini jahil (hunting for Evelin)

Steve, you are much luckier than me! Maybe better planning??
    🙂

Seen on your photo stream. (?)

  5. Ah, that explains why she asked me about the quality of the Tampa pavement, their next destination…

Mimosa: your fellow Canadians posted videos of the talks… and a letter from Bush:

  6. This letter Steve is very touching!

I know the importance of living our lives free to be who we are as a people and to fully express our identities and culture, to listen to our hearts and share with others the pulse of our common beliefs and character. The Baltic countries have certainly carved the history of politics and shown a path in the direction of independence. They will forever represent a great model for others who are hesitant and fearful of speaking up and insuring their freedom in this world.

    Bravo to all!

  7. Nice talk, well said. I’d like to give a talk with you from the same podium some day.

  8. As a Latvian I am a little upset not seeing what Latvian food did you get that day…

  9. heh…. I just remember that it was part of the Slow Food movement

  10. Make sure NOT to invite Paul Krugman to any of these dinners.

Krugman is someone notable for always being right and his vicious personal vendettas over things like the proper use of the word shibboleth.
