15 ft. up into the air… She has a nice plume to height ratio. =)

Amazingly, my little L1 bird popped off the pad and flew straight on a J350 – a motor so long it pushes up against the nose cone. I put an extra pound of weight in the nose cone to make it stable in the computer simulation (pulling over 40 G’s to 840 MPH according to RockSIm, but I doubt it).

  1. cool!
what’s the role of the tripod contraption on the left?

  2. The tripod is for another rocket, right? ;-/ ??? Cool shot. I see what you mean about the ratio.

  3. Nice… 40 G’s!!!! Whew. I’m glad I’m not on that rocket!

  4. yes, an unusual perspective. I wish all of my re-entries were that smooth…. More on that later. =)

Ms. Clean: Yes. That is another launch pad on the left. Here is a wider perspective from last year:

  5. Any confirmation that it actually did beat mach 1? Win some lose some!

  6. whatanicepanorama!!!! ;-P

did you frame it finally? Looks superb printed with a generous white border (I´d suggest no moulding, no glass –mounting the print just on canvas -they put a protective silicone over it for preservation-)

ok ok, I worked in the walldecor business for years, can´t help it!!!

  7. Ben – no… and since it survived with its fins, I suspect not. I did not have room for a computer in there…

Alieness: alas, not yet… encourage Victor to send it to me. =)

  8. –VICTOR, damn, How long will it take you?! Go send the print to Steve, WTF!! Don´t make me say it twice… #*@€#$%&.!!! >=(

(I´m practicing what to say. OK, I´ll spank him.) 😛

  9. ouch!….spanking promised but only now delivered as I stumble across this public harshness!! Let me think…it was a sent a long time ago I clearly recall, but now that I dwell on it… oh now I remember….I sent it to Gisela first because she did such a great job of retouching it… yup, guilty of a priorities violation perhaps… torn between two choices and now disatisfying all parties – my apologies to you both. If it makes you and Gi feel any better, my slowness irritates me far more than it does others. ;-(

  10. you crack me up. You’re not on my bad side… and I think spankings are just a sign of affection for the aliens. It’s the full probe you want to avoid.

  11. No, J, spanks are not a sign of affection for us -except for some dominatrix alienesses-, but for sure I was kidding here. Seemed to have been taken seriously tho. I should have added a disclaimer: "No real spanking was intended to be delivered in the making of this flickr comment".

I would send you the print, J, yet I may have to dismount it from a canvas. In all honesty I think that printing out the file down there at your town would be better.

Thanks Victor for editing your comment.

  12. ooh, you have a canvas….. jealous!
