Josh, I assume this was just wishful thinking and that you do know that we have no direct control concerning how Explore works.

@Mimosa…yes, I’m well aware of how Explore works. But if *I* ran it, then…..

Seen in my recent comments. (?) -
Her garb looks Mennonite, and if that’s the case I’m perplexed as to why she’s on a cellphone beside a waterfall…
-
There are different sects of Mennonites. Some work in offices with computers and the whole bit and, if they weren’t wearing the typical garb, you wouldn’t know by talking to them.

If I was her I would love to see this portrait. So cinematic… her costume and posture… looks like a 40´s movie… Gone with the Wind.
-Bring a Clark Gable asap.

An interesting photo! Nature vs technology, and nature vs a long dress. Its amazing where all the good cell signals can be found. I usually don’t see women in the wilderness in a dress. Had to be really hard to hike in a dress like that with flip-flops? The lighting is really great!

Tell us Steve, was it really a spontaneous pose? Was she a Mennonite or just a girl wearing a typical Mennonite cap (for whatever reason)? Was this perhaps a scene photographed for publicity or filmed for a commercial to promote cell phones or cell phone service. Was it for a movie? I am very curious but it is fine if you prefer to keep the illusion and to keep us guessing. 😉

Well, your answer makes me, and surely the others, appreciate even more this great catch. It is surprising scenes like this, where someone or something seems simultaneously out of place while blending in perfectly with the unusual environment that intrigue and retain people’s interest.
Yes, I see the yin-yang effect but in this case with a coral dot! Beautiful!

Great juxtapositions of girl, rocks, colour, water, technology……

thanks y’all
Next month, an unprecedented photoshoot will take place in this valley. It’s the creation of the largest digital picture ever shot, using 18 gigapixel panorama rigs all fired off simultaneously, and then integrated into a 3D fly-through model. (Project site)

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/rubin110] — thank you! I had no idea I provided the closing shot of this photo essay going back to 1865! And so poignant to see the National Park closed on its 123-year birthday.
I offer all of my photos on flickr for free on a Creative Commons license, and this leads to all kinds of wonderful surprises when I see my photos crop up somewhere new. So far, the most interesting ones have been the Charlie Rose show, a Science article, and a book for the blind…. For a photograph, I was a bit perplexed by that last one.
Meanwhile, here’s another shot from the prior day, on the way up…
