James Randi waxes intellectual:
“A billion dollars are spent each year on psychics. Sylvia Browne charges $700 for a 20-minute phone call. She doesn’t even see you. And you will have to wait two years, because she is booked that far out.”

“How come when you pay to speak to a dead relative, they never call back from hell?”

He reminded me of the sobering statistic from my blog that one out of every three U.S. adults believes in ghosts and communication with the dead.

Randi’s site has a standing million dollar prize to anyone who can prove, in a controlled setting, that they have supernatural powers.

  4. I would want to hear the definition of the word "atheist"… i was born as an atheist in the country where everybody was an "atheist", so it is like you are a part of establishment, the dominant in your throat ideology… you have to be an atheist… so i still have a bit of sour taste in my mouth when i hear this word… i always had couple extra whiskers if you will.. similar to Eppies… they are not supernatural but very natural and a part of who I am (the same i noticed about Eppie)… funny thing is that would i be born here i would still have my "long whiskers" but i would be an atheist… because i would be fed up with fundamentalists and close-mindedness and/or dogmatic thinking of any kind.. and would stand up internally against the establishment… so do words really matter? I just do not like this particular word… but I do like people who can make a positive difference in the world like you, guys… if you leave all words in all religions and all symbols and all junk… one thing truly matters and that is continuous self-improvement, doing something positive and inspiring and developing human spirit and consciousness… (Shooting rockets, climbing mountains, creativity, changing the world makes more sense than blindly worshiping idols).
If for natural and supernatural… we do not know ourselves well and the powers of our mind… we are really ignorant about it and just entering a new era… however, even if somebody has some extra abilities out there… (actually we all do or have an undeveloped capacity for more)… to sell those “abilities” for money is like to sell love for money…
And certain things were always hidden from general public for a reason… true wisdom was never for the crowd…
I would love to hear more scientific opinion about “the universe as a hologram” type of articles; I do not blindly believe in those either… just another interesting view point…

  5. Mr. Randi would love this quote…

For nothing worthy proving can be proven,
Nor yet disproven: wherefore thou be wise,
Cleave ever to the sunnier side of doubt,
And cling to Faith beyond the forms of Faith!
