No footsteps in the sand today in Half Moon Bay. Every once in a while a wave would cross the sandy berm and slam into the bluffs (surprising a jogger friend of mine).

Now I understand the SF paper’s headline: In a word, gnarly.

“The Coast Guard doesn’t tell people to stay off the beach very often, but that’s the word for the next few days, as waves as high as 22 feet are expected to crash along the shore. Scrambling on rocks and walking near the water’s edge are very bad ideas, according to the hazardous weather advisory issued Friday. “

  1. the beach in front of front of Wavecrest. This is looking North from the bluffs that run South from 92.

  2. aren’t the waves supposed to be 20 feet high? will the mavericks surf there soon?

  3. Yup, Mavericks will be next month, just offshore on the top left corner of this photo. (I just added more weather details to the photo caption)

  4. oh cool, I wish to go there when Mavericks surf! how do I find out when? Thanks!

  5. I think it would be safe to leave my soul down by *that* sea…
    It would surely return refreshed.
