  1. Feel free to remove my notes. I think I’m just hungry.

  2. A grape plant fumigator? (funny notes!)

  3. I think it might be a boat of some sort. It looks like you are right over the engine, because the air intake filter is in front of you.

  4. Bingo xouroborus!… a new winner, and under 15 minutes from posting.

This is the interior of a NASCAR race car. It is the AMD car, but they all look the same. Every detail – down to the aerodynamic fins on the roof – is specified by the racing league. The inside is a rat’s nest of pipes and wires. Some drivers found a way to sneak extra gasoline inside of the roll bars, but they were caught.

“Our cars use leaded gas and 1950s carburetor technology. In 2007, we will break into the world of unleaded.”

“Our drivers lose 8-10 lbs per race.”

    – Steve Phelps, NASCAR (formerly from the NFL and Guinness =)

I like the cheeze whiz processing aspiration more.

  5. A newspaper blower for lazy paperboys. It can cover both sides of the street in one go.

  6. Wild! So, what are all the big flex pipes?

  7. Ben ‘O’ – I am guessing air, lots of air.

  8. So, Steve. Got a trivia question for you, about gasoline.

Why was lead originally put into gasoline, and how does it solve the problem? (I recently read about this, and found it fascinating.)

  9. (i knew it was a racecar, my cousins used to race) but i’d like it to be my new car. stupid jettas.

  10. oddwick: do tell. I thought it was just marketing to lead-footed drivers.

Ben: Yes,the pipes connect to air scoops on the side windows, but I’m not sure why they go down behind the driver. Looks like some air blowers and filters…

  11. I suppose it could be for driver ventilation. These are front engined cars, right?

  12. Yes. (and the 750HP engine drains the gas tank in 20 minutes)

  13. i’m going to go find out just why lead WAS put in gasoline. i can’t leave a good question unanswered!
