I found this unknown goop in some Easter eggs. It’s just as cold, but less runny, than the green Slime I remember from childhood.
I discovered that this stuff dissolves Silly Putty. When I mix them, the Silly Putty becomes soft, and then stringy, and now smelly and very sticky. It adheres to paper and skin… The blob on my desk is starting to worry me a bit.
It looks like an alien pod! I am thinking of a movie but the name escapes me for now. Something about pods that contain aliens.

Alieness, how fast do you suppose he needs to yank it in order to test it for silly hardening? Also, might a bounce test be sufficient? I suppose for full sillyness, a newsprint test should be included?
I should clarify that cheeks are probably ok, if you want to evoke emotion in those who see you, but eyes, nose and mouth, yah, as we both agree bad plan, probably.
Definitely: DON´T put that on your face! Silly Putty holds no responsibility for injuries and intoxication due to mixung silly putty with other chemicals or materials. [the first lesson at university is this disclaimer ;-)]
Now, to understand better about the mix and its behaviour (and to infere the transparent slime´s components) it would be interesting that we knew the mixing ratio: How much transparent slime did you mix in how much silly putty, J?
(take on account that silly putty´s silly behaviour is based in the bonds -and bonds´ breaking- of its component molecules -basically hydrogen-)
Oh, yes, I think the photo is of the raw goo, without mixing. I just thought your questions were related to the behaviour of the resulting solution of silly putty and this goo here. As that was what Steve told to have become sticky smelly and such others eeewwww´s =S
For the bonds: "The polymers in silly putty have covalent bonds within the molecules, but hydrogen bonds between the molecules. The hydrogen bonds are easily broken. When small amounts of stress are slowly applied to the putty, only a few bonds are broken and the putty "flows". When larger amounts of stress are applied quickly, there are many hydrogen bonds that break, causing the putty to break or tear."

What is strange is that Steve describes a chain of changes in thing since he mixed them. It didn´t change once and stayed like that. Silly putty is inorganic, while this goo may have some organic component which had been activated -or boosted- and is causing this observable development on the thing (first soft then stringy, now smelly and sticky, etc…).
I´m no chesmistry expert, tho. Corrections and suggestions welcome.
Temperature as you know, plays a role too. And btw, I wouldn´t make a ‘bounceability’ test on the mixed thing, if has now become sticky. Specially if Steve´s floor is carpeted! =)
