This my zoom zoom room with the 2300mm setup I used in the prior photo. If it used lenses instead of mirrors, it would be 3x longer. Even with the folded fat form-factor, it is very sensitive to vibration, so I use the remote shutter and motorized tripod.

  1. It’s just a scaled up version of the 500mm Spiratone….

  2. Look! You can almost see the cute little camera on the back!

  3. don’t you mean WMP, BillyWharhol? or maybe MPW (massive photography weapon)?

    quite a photo, jurveston!

  4. Ah, so this is how you use your bathtub! You can get fantastic views but I guess not while soaking.

I suppose that you do not go on walks with this equipement.

How well can you see the planets with this lens?

  5. Ahhhh……! Gotcha. Ok, I was totally imagining you with some Canon 2300mm lens but that was hoping agains hope. This is a far more interesting rig.

  6. Oh man, the astronomer-wannabe in me growls…

  7. 2300mm… totally Gi-proof.

    Good lens. Anything 23-wise is.

  11. WOW those are brilliant shots of the moon.
I always wanted to take similiar pictures, but out of reach with my 200 mm lens.

May be at some point I will take similiar shots.
    Thanks for sharing them.

  13. How’d you stick that SLR on it. I’m keen to start this soon… will it work also on a ETX-70?

  14. The Meade ETX-125 is a very nice and affordable piece of glass. I’ve heard of people taking deep space photos with 5 minute open shutter times. That’s impressive – are the servo motors really that smooth to track w/out distortion?

    Very nice.

  15. Please, post more photos taken with this monster!!
    What a "tramánculo"!

  16. nice set up…be sure to check out mine too sometime..

  17. coincidentally, your image of the moon in the other thread led me to this pic and i was just looking into getting this telescope.

when i spoke to someone at the store yesterday, they said that to take photos, i would need to connect my DSLR to the telescope via a USB cable, but from your photo, it looks like you can attach it to get a direct shot through the lens. also, the review in Amazon mentions a "Straight through photographic port" which sounds like your setup above…i’m just wondering if the person at the store didn’t know what they were talking about… 🙂

  18. @photon: M.Soleil looks awesome there!

  19. Yes, a T-mount adapter from the back of the telescope to the camera body (there are adapters for Canon and Nikon). USB might make sense for the computer to control the motors for target tracking.

  20. ok, excellent. thanks!
