I still see it as an explosion of ideas. -
absolutely! I once saw -too- an explosion of ideas and it looked pretty much like this. But those were green ideas.

A traffic light supended in the air? No. Notice that there are yellow strands among the red.

I took a long exposure with flash, and rotated the camera during the exposure. So the fireworks streaks have linear explosion + rotation dynamics over the long exposure, and the flash freezes (so to speak) all of the white points of snow — from big and blurry in the foreground to small sharp points in the background.
