feels like a hangover from the TED brain spa
I needed an excuse for bringing so many cameras! I struggled with the DSLR… and the shutter-free Panasonic hand camera was a bit better… then it hit me…
I set the auto-timer and slid the water-proof Pentax into the middle of the exhibit… (as an aside, I find that using sepia helps when the contrast is too sharp, like when one shoots directly into two strobe lights!)
Curiouslee, your TED photos were excellent. All an each. Far better than the official ones, really.
In particular one called my attention. What was that "message board", "center", whatever, all about?
And what a precise moment to shoot on it… jeez…
You’re constantly finding cool shots that only a waterproof camera could safely take. Great job, Steve! It rocks!
When I look at it at just the right angle… it looks like a Giant Mecha Bot (TM) crying angsty tears.
Gisela, thank you!
The message board is part of a web-based newtworking tool for the conference attendees called introNetworks. There’s a password-protected area where people volunteer information for an interest profile, and tools to match you with people with similar interests. The message board displayed a summary of how many e-mail messages people had waiting in the system.
There is a Flash movie of how it works here:

It was just coincidence that Steve was on screen when I snapped the pic.
come ooooooooooon… admit that you were almost an hour waiting to Steve´s name to appear on the panel to shoot! 😛
😉
Yes, that coincidence was really striking.
Thanks for the info! I certainly would have never guessed that much complexity about the panel (networking stuff and such)… I just thought it was some kind of digital concierge that somewhere recepted messages -any- and notified about them on the boards…
Odd.
Well, to say that something was "odd" at TED is bit reduntant.

ps: Oddwick… I do see a robot crying too, just didn´t dare mention it. 😛
Very buddha-like. 😉
No robot no cry! Here I brought a dream for you. Be happy! somewhere in the matrix a robotess is thinking -dreaming ;)- of you…
What a cool and beautiful shot this is!! I love the perspective!
