  1. Woweee! What bill was he signing?

  2. You look more presidential than HE does!

  3. What it’s not in the Aliens Robots & cyborgs set ???

  4. Victor: heh, heh…. You might change your mind if you could see my tie. It was festooned with cartoons(drawings by Save the Children)

    Ben: S.189 National Nanotech Program

  5. That’s why they didn’t have you in front then..?

Either way, he looks worried, you look confident….and the winner is…

  6. Drawings by Save the Children. He should have been placed in front.

  7. steve, i can’t believe it. i leave the room for one minute and you take the picture! haha.
very cool man — love seeing the places you go!

  8. I want to see the tie! So…why didn’t you give him a wedgie? 😉

  9. Steve… You actually look like you’re giving a wedgie.

  10. What was it like to be in the oval office?

  11. just wedgie the puppet !

  12. what a "rum shower"! 😉

all i can think of now is Zelig!

  13. Biotron: Zelig is precisely the name I have for this picture on my computer. I changed it at the last moment when posting, figuring that most people would not know the reference. I should make a Zelig Set of photos….

StarrGazr: Why no wedgie? I think I was spooked by the moment and the armada of photographers and flashes going off. I think I’d still be in jail today if I tried a stunt like that. But some "bunny ear" fingers behind his head might have snuck by…. If only I had planned ahead a little bit more…. As for the tie, you can see it here

    strzelecki1: Was "strzelecki" already taken???

What was it like? Somewhat surreal. After gathering in the West Wing, we had a half hour with Bush in the Oval Office. It was a small group of 10 other people, including the key Senator behind the bill, and heads of DOE & PCAST, and the Nobel Laureate who discovered buckyballs… I was clearly the odd man out!

We got to talk about the nano bill, and Bush showed us his Texas paintings, the desk Kennedy crawled through, and new appointments around the office. The central rug was designed by Laura Bush, with the American Eagle facing the olive branch of peace and away from the arrows of war. Noted without comment.

When asked about the classic painting of George Washington facing his desk, he blurted "Well, that’s the original George W!"

  14. Wow, it sounds like an exciting experience!

And yes, when I first registered for an email address back in 97 or so, strzelecki was taken. (apparently it is the Jones/Smith of Poland) So that is what I came up with, and it just stuck.

  15. Steve, you HAVE to do a Zelig set! You ARE Zelig! And BTW, that bill is a goodie!

  16. You sure do get around Steve.

  17. You all look very happy…whatzzz going on 😛

  18. Zelig. Of course Zelig!
    Brilliant.

  19. Ew, hope you didn’t get him a wedgie. I wouldn’t brag about touching his underwear. I like the bunny ears idea better 😀

Very cool photo. And as always, your smile is the best of all.

  20. Hi Zelig!
You meeting the President of the United States of Whatever !

  21. Okay, why does everyone look like they’re made of cardboard except for YOU! Ha! George looks like you could draw a curly mustache and bushy eyebrows on him and punch him a few times and he wouldn’t flinch. Breathe some life into these blokes! I know, buy them some STC ties!

Seen in your federales set. (?)

  22. He wasn’t signing anything, he was just doodling. You can tell from the look on his face.

  23. "Well, that’s the original George W!" Once a frat boy…

  24. and this is a very funny picture:)

    talk about fake social smiles:)
