Puzzle Series: What is this, or what do you want it to be?
I imagine that it is an ants´ -or other bichos´- hive built in a glass bowl filled with gel. The strips look like tunels… *blink blink*
*blush* …bicho here also has a double meaning… and I guess it is the same as in PR (I didn´t know this about PR, tho)! Awaiting Ivo´s burst of laughter… ;-P
The first thing I thought of was bottle rockets launched into water. Since gunpowder carries it’s own oxygen, it works (and it’s lots of fun) but I have to defer to the first guess that stretchdog made… it looks like a gel ant farm.
Oh, you guys are killing me. I thought this would be a really tough one, and went off to dinner. I come back, and the first guy has nailed it. Son of a bicho!
Bingo Stretchdog, a new winner! Nell was right about the front tunnels being pressed to the front surface, plastic in this case. And Rocketeer (the visual search engine) got the link to the exact product.
The last 2 puzzles went quick, so I was “growing” this one thinking it would be tough, waiting for the harvester ants to do their job…. I had never heard of something like this, so it was alien to me….
The cool thing about this gel farm is that it was developed by NASA to survive Space Shuttle launches (sand would shift and crush the ants under many G’s). They wanted to study tunnel formation in microgravity.
So the gel does not collapse during launch, and it contains all the food and water the ants need. It also has some antibiotics and anti-fungal agents in it.
I like Adrasteia9’s Abyss water snake guess. There is a definite resemblance. The diving birds and bottle rockets are also inspirational. Thanks!
Damn! Late again!!!! hahahaha Nell… Lol I remember wanting to take lots of pictures of the Bug’s Life Posters when I lived in Mexico… It was so funny, all these cute bugs and the big type face spelling BICHOS! hehe
LOL
As far as the puzzle goes, *late again… I also would have said something along the lines of what Rocketeer said. Although I now NOTHING about rockets and such. I like the abyss comment too.
And will try next time to get here on time. *sigh* ("son of a bicho!" -lol)
son of a bicho… man, you kill me… =) Bicho, it would be great that Iv tell us. Here is used for bugs, bad people, mmm…. a loving way of calling your mate (believe me, you hear couples from time to time: "bicho, te quiero" with its variations "bichi", "bichu") AND for… certain, you know… body parts.
Btw I liked chrissie guessing. I first thought of those gel packs shooters use in pratice. They shoot it with different guns and bullets so they can see a simulacrum of the behavior of the bullet once it reaches a soft target as a living body. I´ve seen that, it is amazing, if not very disturbing, in particular with some bullets like the hollowed one which opens itself like a ninja star when it hits the target so it expands its radius of action and passes whatever it finds like a drill. Another interesting bullet is the one filled with mercury…
Bingo Nell! 😉 yes, here has that name and I didn´t know if i was making a mistake translating it as it sounds. That´s it. My bro is a shooting instructor so this is more or less normal for me to see or talk about. I hate violence but I love guns. Another paradox in me.
Well, like you liking forensic tv shows and taking awesome photos that are a chant to life… =)
this is a really cool shot, youve managed to give it depth with only a few little tunnels, and i love the color!
