It is bizarre to see pine trees turn golden in Autumn. We tend to associate them with the deep and evergreen colors, since conifers are usually not deciduous. And so these rare larch trees are all the more beautiful.
Sorry these aren’t pine trees. Pine trees maintain their color year round, and have a much coarser texture in both needle and growth habit. These are Larix sp. AKA Larch or Tamarack. They are decidious conifers. Looks like there is some spruce trees in there too. They are not decidious and holding the nice dark green color like most conifers do. Another cool decidious conifer is the Dawn Redwood, Metasequoia Glyptostroboides. Not sure if I spelled that right, but I think it is one of the most beautiful plants ever. Maybe someone has a picture?
I’m no expert on this subject, but this is what I see online:
"larch, any tree of the genus Larix, conifers of the family Pinaceae (pine family), which are unusual in that they are not evergreen."
