The curators of creativity at IDEO must have liked my blog references as they welcomed me to tour their campus in Palo Alto yesterday.

I am drawn to this office environment… festooned with archaeological artifacts and structural pranks from fellow teammates. Pulley systems hold a sea of bicycles overhead (most of them bike to work).

To his right is the wood mock up of the PowerBook Duo dock with the motor that smoothly sucks the laptop into its socket (for zero insertion force docking). It still works after all these years.

His motto: “Bring a prototype to every meeting.”

  1. 😯 !!!!!

*openning my eyes and mouth with childlike fascination*

  2. Lots of cool stuff to identify there. You ought to have a contest to see who can identify the most stuff in a busy picture.

  3. Whoa! I got punk’d with post-it-notes! That tickles.

  4. Holy post-its! Rokee, I wouldn´t like to be your fridge´s door! =P

…let me see if I can help to the cause… hihihi 😉

  5. Hey What is a Pachinko? (left-bottom). Looks like a home-made pinball to me… |-)

  6. Pachinko is a cross between a slot machine and pinball machine, originating from Japan. You play it with hundreds of little steel balls instead of just a few of the larger ones.

  7. oh!!! I´ve seen them I guess-. I am more a pinball person, tho. Do you play? Any favs? Mines are "The Phanton of the Opera" (1989+/-), "Terminator" (1992+/-) and "Get away" (1996+/-)

So, we saw almost the same there… must be something of the kind, maybe Jurvey can help if he knows about the one in the picture.

  8. wow that is the coolest work environmetn/philsophy I’ve seen all month *ahem* especially considering my own.

You lead an amazing life, rich with experiences.

  9. I have a "Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein" pinball machine in my house, Alieness. (from 1993, based on the movie) I’ll post some photos of it later.

  10. Oh My! If there was something left to your wonderful and beautiful new house… was a pinball machine… you ROCK, Rock! =D

I die to see those photos! You know my bro had one in his *flat* (yes, a 3 room flat).. it was Glottieb´s Cactus Jack´s… he had to sell it because the cactus were too noisy and espontanous, tho =(

  11. Looks like a modern scene from the movie "Needfull Things".
