What is this, or what do you want it to be?

  1. It looks like a catfish with chapped lips.

  2. I very much want it to be the Dollar’s climb back against the Euro

  3. It’s a view through the screen door of the operator’s booth of the people going by on a roller coaster at Six Flags Marineworld in Vallejo, California as the aurora borealis fills the sky with a colorful background.

  4. Actually, it looks like a macro shot of a broken LCD panel.

  5. Planetarium, leaning way back, and kindly leaving the flash off.

  6. I agree with Rocketeer and the black part looks like ink dripping. Also I think the display is still on.

PS> when I saw the macro I thought it was an upside down landscape. I quite like it, was glad to see it’s a new puzzle though. 😀

  7. Bingo Rocketeer with a fine detail from iv0 (the display is on). Rocketeer has been on fire lately with the puzzles. It is a broken LCD, but unlike Puzzle 4 (which was a monochrome screen without power where the color came from thin-film interference), this one has the power on, and so you can see the pixels, and the contrast is more stark.

It is a Mac PowerBook that went to ground, but still boots up… Like the other broken LCDs in my life, it creates a wonderful dance of color when you squeeze it.

This puzzle has sparked some of the more creative answers… they crack me up and help me imagine things I would want to see.

Joi: That is one fine hallucination. I am still squinting at the picture and trying to find your perspective….

Ross: very cool visual for this image orientation…

and iv0, even better when I turn it upside down. You see differently. Maybe it’s the way you hold your head at an angle. =)

(I have a couple extra puzzles in process…. But I have a week of travel coming up, so this little FLICKer will be in sleep mode for a while…)

  8. Bravo Sir Rocketeer! 😀

And Steve. It hurts to see so many macs damaged like that. It really does. :/ Anyhoo, hope you have a great trip and bring with you some more interesting puzzles! 😀

  9. upsidown crowd?
