HAL just had monocular vision. And she turns to smile at human faces.

Here’s a video of the facial gestures of her pirate friend.

Human Emulation Robotics showed her off at the World Technology Summit.

  1. I bet this is amazing work! A History Channel show on robotics, profile a Japanese team working on a very similar Asian female head. I wonder what would happen if you positioned them face to face.

  2. That was a great link. Thanks, it was extremely interesting! If you were curious, it was Fumio Hara of the Science University of Tokyo, who was profiled in the show.

I am a firm believer in manners, in the future should I thank my android for each service rendered?

  3. That’s crazy. Though I’m seeing it, I can’t believe it. I can only imagine the things you’ve been involved with and have seen. It’s the stuff I’ve read about but could never imagine as being real. I guess they said the same thing when they filmed the landing on the moon. How lucky you are! Very cool! I’m thrilled that you share this stuff because it’s really amazing.
