A recent update: “Despite the divergent evolutionary paths of dolphins and primates — and their vastly different brains — both have developed similar high-level cognitive abilities” such as mirror self-recognition.

That water color is just incredible. My wife and I saw a pod of spinner dolphins go by when we kayaked off South Kona. Were these dolphins swimming along with your boat?

Yes. And they would jump up in the air spinning and playing. Several pods that would thrash about. About 20-30 dolphins in all….

Very cool. Why are they swimming away from you, Steve? Did you accidentally say "Starkist" too loud or something?

Just kidding… they were probably near the bow of the boat riding the crest, werent’ they? I’ve seen only one or two at a time in Galveston Bay. Also, Galveston Bay looks like chocolate milk compared to this beautiful water… what a treat!

Yeah, I was on the bow of the boat belting out the Celine Dion diddy from The Titanic, and they hate that song.

Oh man!!! I love dolphins… I swam with them in Mexico. They are heavenly creatures. They are so cool they would even endure you singing that god awful Celine Dion song to them 😀

I have been blessed to live here and have often swum with the wild spinner dolphins. I have some photos of some of these times and your picture here has inspired me to post them…maybe today!
