And Video as I reimagine the boss battle from the first Star Wars movie.
This is the largest remaining surface section from the Death Star made by ILM for the final rebel attack sequence. It was a gift from visual effects artist and Episode IV Chief model maker, Lorne Peterson.
Original Death Star "low altitude" surface section from the climactic Rebel assault sequence in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, consisting of a 23.5" x 23.5" x 3" model miniature surface panel constructed of rigid polyfoam with cast-in kit-bashed greeblies and grid detail carved into the surface, expertly studio-painted varying shades of gray. Accompanied by the original 7.5" x 3.5" x 2.25" turbolaser tower constructed of rigid polyfoam featuring 2-resin laser cannons mounted to the top and grid detail carved into the surface, expertly studio-painted gray. Items were meticulously crafted and distressed by Industrial Light and Magic to appear as the outer hull of the superweapon space station, used in the close up "low-altitude" shots as the X-wings fly down and disrupt the turbolaser targeting to protect the Y-wing bombers. This surface panel remains the largest section of the Death Star surface still in existence
