Elbaite, a variety of tourmaline, is named after the island of Elba where it was first discovered (and where Napolean was first exiled). A watermelon crystal of this size is especially rare. It also has the peculiar property of generating an electric charge with pressure or heat. It has a complex composition: Na(Li1.5Al1.5)Al6Si6O18(BO3)3(OH)4
