My current fave, as it is so unique and visually striking, and a bit mysterious. It’s also the first of its kind in North America. The hours are tiny cubes that rotate so that only one has a white face up. The tourbillon is centrally mounted, and all of the clockwork and self-winding mechanism appear to float in the center of the case. And that’s the mysterious part: none of the tumblers touch the rim, and given the moving pieces front and back, it is not attached to either sapphire face either. Want to guess how they did it? (hints below)

They gave me the cool paperweight on the left as the first U.S. customer.

One response to “Louis Vuitton Tambour Taiko Watch”

  1. Oh, and it has a LV trunk case, an homage to their very first product line.
Wild detail: LVMH sent four people to my office to deliver it
They sent me a photo of the parts pre-assembly… and therein lies a clue as to how it floats in the center…
First I saw of this new release, a full page ad in the WSJ

And then I saw it on the back cover of Sotheby’s magazine
