Imbued with a sublime sense of symbolic immortality.

We love you, Dr. Roland Griffiths.

You may have passed this evening, but your work will carry forth in our hearts and griffithsfund.org

  1. From his tribute dinner at MAPS Denver in June. 1800 people attended. His doctor said he had a 50% chance of making it to October 31. He joked with his wife that if didn’t make it, he’d dress as a skeleton. Such a joyful spirit throughout, he got married after his terminal diagnosis.

  2. Very important work by Dr. Griffiths!! Elucidating the entheogenic "attenuation of the default mode network (DMN)" 😉 "author of over 400 scientific publications [on a wide range of psychedelic compounds] and trained more than 60 postdoctoral research fellows" in this emerging field while at Johns Hopkins… A great loss, but he lived a pioneering & highly impactful/contributory life! ps: Beautiful portrait painting and frame on stage…appears to be the psilocybin molecule…and that it was created very lovingly by Alex Grey??? pps: All of this research needs to focus on the harmonic consonance of agonists/receptor resonance…the effects of these compounds almost certainly comes from the way they "resonate" when they "dock"…the joint interaction is like plucking a guitar string…it creates an electromagnetic resonance signal/frequency in the circuit that "tunes" the network to a new/non-default mode that switches off the "filters" that make up the default mode (our various very complex personalities and "normal" points of view), allowing free/unconstrained network function/activity not normally experienced (except in very early childhood, deep meditative, dream, or extreme/mortal stress states). From these "altered states" we come to know the full power of the unconstrained mind, we frequently become "synesthetic" as filters between the senses drop out of the way, we see new perspectives on life/problems (that our quotidian/survival/finite-game state filters occluded). The sense of smell (per the still un-acclaimed work of scientists like Luca Turin) works the same way…molecular co-resonance in the olfactory junctions (not just "shape").

  3. [https://www.flickr.com/photos/stephenbove] thank you for this interesting summary. And yes, Alex Gray is the painter.

Now public: NYT Obit. He was able to pass peacefully at home with Marla by his side along with the support of a few friends. She is looking inward now and asks supporters to consider the Griffithsfund. Namaste.
