The Immortality Key Chalice Made Manifest

Our art project this year was an homage to the Immortality Key book. Here’s the evening unveiling, with the artists and author Brian Muraresku who was blown away. It was his first burn: the full moon rose with perfect timing, the curious crowds flocked to explore and try to decipher the messages and generative-AI portraits (where the psychedelic ergot elixir would have rested at the bottom of the chalice bowl), while hearing echoes of their voices reflected weirdly within. Then… biblical flooding… and hitching a ride out with Chris Rock and Diplo. Totally normal for a Greek history scholar.

Echoes of the past… Every year in September for 2000 years, ancient Greeks made a pilgrimage to the temple of Eleusis to drink from the sacred chalice, stay up all night, and swear that they died and were reborn. They did not have modern language to describe the experience.

Now, imagine if Burning Man continued for 2000 years….
