From the rocket workshop this weekend: my new fiberglass + aluminum red rocket.

My right hand holds the N5800 solid rocket motor. The airframe holds three flight computers that control two parachute bays + GPS tracking system with radio. Launch is next month. Simulator: Mach 2.4 to over 30K’

  1. Nice! Launch at Balls?

  2. Amazing…this thing will be at muzzle velocity for a pretty decent high power rifle bullet (just below 3,000 FPS), and the N5800 produces more than 2x peak thrust (8 kN) of the Williams EJ22 that powers the Eclipse 500 Jet (3kN), and about 2/3 as much as the old GE CJ-610 that powered the first lear Jets (12 kN).
