We are all made of paperclips

PAPERCLIP EMBRACE was made form 15,000+ Paperclips, on Concrete by The Pier Group (Kevan Christiaens, Hillary Clark, Matthew Schultz).

Created by invitation from the Misalignment Museum in contemplation of the Paperclip Maximizer thought experiment first described by Nick Bostrom.

The Paperclip Maximizer suggests that an artificial intelligence created with the goal of optimizing paperclip production could eventually destroy the world by humanity by allocating all resources to creating paperclips.

The Pier Group’s original version of Embrace was 72 feet and was presented at Burning Man in 2014 where it was set to flames.
