
Trisha Suppes, founder of the Bipolar & Depression Research Program at the Palo Alto VA showed the early results (small n) using 25mg psilocybin for TRD (Treatment Resistant Depression) in veterans. Her words: “when I saw this graph, my jaw dropped. It was stunning to me. I did not believe it would happen. Their depression is gone.” (referring to the patients on bottom right) and then later “I still don’t believe it.” (said with a tone of wonder and amazement). She intends to do 3,6,9 and 12 month follow ups.
“The new era of rapid-acting therapeutics, such as ketamine, electrical stimulation, psilocybin and MDMA, are an inflection point in psychiatry, with a focus on rapid, enduring neuroplasticity. It changes the landscape of psychiatric diagnostics and treatment.”
