I just hung up a mobile of our solar system in the rocket room, and I find it a bit bothersome that neither the relative sizes of the planets nor their distances are correctly to scale. Like most teaching resources, it’s very misleading.
But, it’s also very difficult to represent accurately. Here’s a demo done right, out in the Black Rock Desert, starting with Earth being the size of a blue marble — and it needs seven miles of empty space! https://youtu.be/zR3Igc3Rhfg?t=104
